The programs below are designed to serve talented undergraduate students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Within the various programs, students are part of a cohort that receive academic, financial, and counseling support for the duration of their college experience. These programs are targeted at city-based, state-based, and private and independent colleges. Check with the schools that interest you to determine whether you meet the eligibility requirements. Students who apply for these limited-enrollment programs must meet academic and financial guidelines. |

Search for Education, Elevation, and Knowledge (SEEK)
SEEK was designed to open the door to higher education for New York City students who have the ability to obtain a college education, but have not demonstrated their academic potential and have been impeded by the lack of economic resources. SEEK offers eligible students financial aid, academic support, and advising services while attending college. SEEK is only available at CUNY's senior colleges (4-year programs).

College Discovery (CD)
College Discovery was designed to provide individual support to students who desire a college education, but are academically and financially challenged. CD offers academic support, financial aid, workshops, and counseling services to participants. CD is only offered at CUNY's community colleges (2-year programs).

Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP)
HEOP provides access to New York State's private and independent colleges and universities for selected students whose prior academic experiences do not reflect their true potential. HEOP students receive academic, financial, personal, and career support.

Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP)
CSTEP is a HEOP program that provides academic enrichment and career-oriented experiences for students interested in science and health-related careers. CSTEP students participate in internships, conduct research, and work closely with faculty. Eligibility for CSTEP is based on a number of factors, including New York State residency, ethnicity, and family income.
